South Walton County Mosquito IPM Workshop
Tuesday, May 5, 2026 & Wednesday, May 6, 2026
Workshop Schedule:
- Day 1: 1:00 pm – 5:45 pm
- Day 2: 8:00 am – 5:30 pm
A hands-on introduction to mosquito biology, identification, and control. Participants will be guided from foundational knowledge to practical field skills.
On the first day, attendees explore core topics including:
- Mosquito-borne diseases
- Specimen preservation
- Larval identification
- Home-based control strategies
The second day expands into species-level identification, focusing on common Gulf South native and invasive mosquito species; supported by expert-led practicums that reinforce microscope and diagnostic skills. Sessions on mosquito bionomics and integrated pest management conclude the day.
This workshop is designed to help participants understand how mosquito behavior, ecology, and control methods interact in real-world scenarios.
